San Diego Neighborhoods

Pacific Beach

The Neighborhood of Pacific Beach

Pacific Beach, also known as “PB”,  is a popular coastal neighborhood of San Diego. Depending on the time of year, this popular San Diego neighborhood is often considered a young 20’s favored destination, but truthfully, it has plenty to enjoy for all ages.

With three miles of boardwalk to enjoy along the Pacific coastline, you could spend an afternoon biking down the boardwalk. Or maybe soak up the sun laying out at the beach. And when you get hungry, you can easily walk to one of the many incredibly delicious bars and restaurants in Pacific Beach (we’ve listed a few of our favorites below!).

Pacific Beach is a part of the San Diego Mission Bay & Beaches region of the area, but stands out with a strong sense of independence. Drive along (or even walk!) the main streets of Pacific Beach, which are Mission Boulevard and Garnet Street. Mission Boulevard connects you to Mission Beach, and Garnet Street runs east/west.

Both of these streets are lined with quaint boutiques, yoga studios, coffee shops, eateries, bars, and more!

What to know about

Pacific Beach, San Diego

There is no shortage of things to do in Pacific Beach, even if you’re not a fan of going to the beach.

In the evenings, Pacific Beach transforms from a busy beach vibe to a lively eclectic scene. You could party it up all night long at one of the many exciting bars, or spend the evening serenading friends at a beach bonfire. It’s a great place for any kind of activity!

If you head away from the beach, you’ll find the neighborhood of Pacific Beach where there are small apartment complexes, duplexes and single family homes. While people tend to view Pacific Beach as a party haven for college students, that’s only a small part of what this SD neighborhood has to offer. You can find mid-20’s & 30’s professionals living a free spirited lifestyle, as well as families with children playing the front yard. Of course, the farther you live from the main streets of Mission and Garnet, the more quiet your lifestyle will be.
